Spruce budworm symposium

Join UMN Extension and local natural resource professionals at this landowner workshop to learn about the ecology and management of spruce budworm. This event will include indoor classroom sessions and an optional afternoon field tour to learn about spruce budworm management. 

Sessions

Classroom sessions will include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial assistance for landowners
  • Local fire history
  • Climate resilience
  • Parasitoid dynamics
  • Promoting a healthier forest after a spruce budworm outbreak

The afternoon will include an optional field tour to learn about management strategies to mitigate spruce budworm impacts. Participants will leave this event with a clearer understanding of how to promote the health and resilience of their forests.

  • Lunch will be provided.
  • Please come to the field tour prepared for the weather.
  • Bus transportation will be provided to the field site; we will be standing and walking for approximately 2-3 hours.
  • No restroom will be available at the afternoon field tour.
